By the time you read this magazine, the birth control pill Seasonale will have Health Canada's approval and be available to consumers. So what's the big deal about another birth control pill? Seasonale, available in the States since 2003, is the pill that allows users to have only a four periods a year. The marketing for this product is all about freedom-from cramps, from pads and tampons, and from the general hassle of having periods. Of course, Paladin Labs Inc., the company that licensed Seasonale in Canada, is trying to convince us that not only do we not need periods but that we're better off without them.
